But that’s not true anymore. Not since Ultraviolette entered the game.

We recently took the Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet and the new MACH 2 to a proper test track. Not city roads. Not a marketing photoshoot. A real track. Corners, straights, braking zones, and wide-open stretches where you can just let the throttle fly.

What we found wasn’t just surprising, it was addictive.

Let’s break it down. The feel, the speed, the handling, and most importantly, what it’s like to ride an electric motorcycle like you mean it.

The Look – Not Your Average EV

credit: © ultraviolette

The first thing you’ll notice is the design. These aren’t scooters with motors slapped on. Both bikes look like they were born in a fighter jet hangar.

The SuperStreet is sharp, low, and wide. The body panels cut through the air like a stealth plane. And that Afterburner Yellow? It glows. Like seriously, even in low light, the paint pops.

The MACH 2, on the other hand, has this stealthy vibe with deeper, darker colours. The body has a more aggressive taper. Think of it like the dark horse you don’t see coming until it blows past you.

These bikes aren’t just for the road. They’re meant to be stared at in pit lanes.

Throttle Response – Instant Karma

Let’s talk about acceleration. The minute we twisted the throttle, both bikes gave this smooth but serious push. No engine growl. Just pure, clean launch.

The SuperStreet did 0–60 kmph in 2.9 seconds. MACH 2 was slightly quicker, 2.8 seconds. That’s faster than most 300cc petrol sportbikes on the market right now.

But here’s the twist. Unlike petrol bikes, there’s no lag. No revs to build up. No gears to shift. Just instant torque straight from the motor to your wheels.

If you’ve never ridden an electric bike before, this part will feel unreal. It’s silent. But it’s violent.

Top Speed – Not Just for City Boys

credit: © ultraviolette

Now, people always say electric bikes lose steam at the top end. So we pushed both to their limits.

We hit 155 kmph on the straight. Both machines handled it like champs. No shaking, no nervous front end. Just rock-solid stability.

You could hold the line through fast sweepers without worrying. The wider tyres, 110mm up front and 150mm at the rear, gave amazing grip. No drama even during late braking.

The SuperStreet felt a bit more playful. It wanted to flick into corners. MACH 2 was more planted, slightly heavier, and gave you confidence while accelerating out of a curve.

Cornering Feel-Precision Without Fear

This is where we had the most fun.

Both bikes come with upside-down front forks and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. And man, do they work. We pushed them hard into corners, lap after lap, and the suspension didn’t throw any surprises.

There’s also dual-channel BOSCH ABS on both bikes. So even when we braked late, the bikes didn’t fishtail or panic. Especially on dusty or slightly wet patches, ABS kicked in just right, not too harsh, not too lazy.

And regenerative braking? That was new for us. At first, it felt strange, like engine braking but silent. But after a few laps, we were using it to slow down before turns. It’s adjustable too, 10 levels if you really want to dial it in.

Handling Heat Like Pros

credit: © ultraviolette

We did over 25 laps that afternoon. Which means heat was a real concern.

But guess what? Both bikes stayed cool. The battery management system is no joke. Ultraviolette’s 5-level safety system handles mechanical, thermal, electrical, electronic, and software protection.

That means even when the motors and batteries are under stress, you’re not losing performance or range. And most importantly, you’re safe.

Range Test – Not Just Numbers on Paper

Let’s address the elephant in the pit garage. Range anxiety.

Here’s what we got:

SuperStreet gave us about 186 km on Ballistic Mode (that’s the most aggressive riding mode).

MACH 2, with the bigger battery, gave us around 209 km in the same mode.

If you ride in Combat or Glide modes, you’ll get even more. For daily use, you’re looking at 266 km to 323 km on a full charge. That’s more than enough for a full workweek of commuting or one solid weekend ride.

And charging? The BOOST charger got us from 20% to 80% in around 60 minutes. Not bad when you consider how much fun you’re packing per kilometre.

Digital Dash & Smart Features – Like a Smartphone on Wheels

credit: © ultraviolette

Both bikes come with a 5-inch TFT screen. You can choose between “Radar” and “Parallax” themes. The screen shows everything, battery, speed, ride mode, regen level, navigation, crash alerts, even anti-collision warnings.

There’s Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G LTE with eSIM, and GPS/GLONASS too. So yes, your bike is basically smarter than your first laptop.

We used Park Assist to reverse in tight spots. We even used the “Find My F77” feature from the pits to test range detection. It worked flawlessly.

And then there’s Delta Watch, a feature that sends you crash alerts or lets you remotely lock the bike. That’s Batman-level tech.

Braking Confidence – Built for Track and Street

What stood out during the laps was how intuitive the braking felt.

The 320mm front disc with 4-piston calipers has serious stopping power. The 230mm rear disc is great for mid-corner control. Combined with traction control and dynamic stability control, it’s easy to push these bikes harder each time around the circuit.

We even tried panic stops from 100 to 0. No locking. No skidding. Just clean, progressive braking.

That’s a huge win for newer riders and pros alike.

Weight and Feel – Balanced Just Right

credit: © ultraviolette

Now, numbers-wise, SuperStreet weighs around 197 kg, while MACH 2 is slightly heavier at 207 kg.

But you don’t feel that on the move. The low centre of gravity and solid frame balance make them feel lighter when you’re riding.

Whether you’re shifting body weight on corners or doing a tight U-turn at 10 kmph, they feel well-behaved and natural.

Looks vs Performance – No Compromise

Here’s the fun part, these bikes aren’t only for track junkies.

If you’re someone who commutes during the week and hits twisties on Sundays, both bikes are spot on.

SuperStreet is ideal if you want agility, sharp styling, and a sporty ride.

MACH 2 gives you more battery, a slightly heavier but more planted ride, and top-of-the-line range.

Both come in some wild colour options, from Afterburner Yellow and Turbo Red to Stealth Grey and Cosmic Black. So yeah, you’re not blending into the crowd at traffic signals.

So, Which One’s Better?

credit: © ultraviolette

Honestly? It depends on who you are.

If you’re a lean-into-the-corner type who wants punchy acceleration and weekday practicality, go with the SuperStreet.

If you’re the all-day-long rider who needs more range and doesn’t mind a little extra weight, MACH 2 is your match.

We loved both. But if you’re asking what we’d park in our garage, it’s the one that matches your riding style.

Are We Ready for Electric Sportbikes?

After a full day on the track, here’s what we think.

Electric sport bikes aren’t the future anymore. They’re the present. And Ultraviolette isn’t experimenting. They’ve perfected it.

You get speed, handling, looks, safety, tech, and peace of mind, all in one package. And when you go electric with these, you’re not giving anything up.
